TV series | ''Skip Tracer'' Izabella Miko as Ludmila (Stacy)
plot summary: A charming skip tracer finds missing people for his Los Angeles clients.
Skip "Tracer" King (Stephen Dorff) is your typical hard luck private investigator. He spends his days on a perpetual stakeout, looking for cheating husbands, runaway brides and deadbeat family members. His latest case: a washed up baseball player-turned-real estate mogul named Connie "Con" Colbert (John Heard) is looking for his girlfriend Stacie (Izabella Miko), a Polish immigrant who disappeared a few days ago. And sure enough, like all Polish immigrants fleeing their sugar daddies, she's got a few secrets. For one her name isn't Stacie, it's Ludmila. And it turns out during her days as a manicurist, she was part of an identity theft ring. But again, like all Polish immigrants with shady connections that are fleeing their sugar daddies - she's also got a heart of gold as she left Con to start her life over on her own. In any case, their sparkage is more than enough to send our hero Skip into a tailspin as he wrestles with whether to tell Con that he found her. In between all of this we meet the rest of the cast, which includes Diedrich Bader as Parker, Skip's porn/stripper-addicted lawyer friend who farms out work to him; Martha Higareda as Jennifer, Skip's eager-to-learn assistant; Jackie Burroughs as Florence, one of Skip's chatty tenants; and Beverly D'Angelo as Donna, Skip's mom who has been in prison for the past 18 years for murdering her husband. Anyway, it's not long before the truth comes out about Con as well - he's dying of cancer and his children don't want Ludmila to be found so they can inherit his full estate. In the end, Skip comes clean to both of them and loses out in the process as Ludmila opts to spend Con's last days with him, leaving behind not only her plans, but Skip as well. [Back To Top] |

plot summary: Flakes centers on the mercurial relationship of aspiring rock musician Neal Downs (Stanford), who manages the cereal bar, and Miss Pussy Katz (Deschanel), creator of radically-themed art clothing that she tries, in vain, to sell to French Quarter tourists. The main character, however, is the cereal shop itself, where Neal holds court to an offbeat crew of locals, who debate the arcana of cereal history and ideal milk/flake ratios. But then an aspiring young capitalist rips off the store's concept and, when Miss P. gets involved, suddenly everything is at stake--Flakes, love, and the very survival of righteous breakfast food veneration.

Official Park Website
Park Photo Album
| ''Park'' Izabella Miko as Krysta
plot summary: Kurt Voelker’s Park is a humorous ensemble comedy set in one single day in the city of Los Angeles. It’s full of rather varied characters, each struggling with the notion of finding out who they really are and what they really want out of life. That sort of description may sound a bit mundane, as it’s one we’ve all heard before, but with this film, there is nothing dull about it. This enjoyable film observes the character’s behavior with a rather unscripted feel so most of the happenings surprise and entertain instead of boring us to slumber. Set in one location, a park, the film follows a profusion of characters each on their lunch break. Peggy (Ricki Lake) has some feelings of distrust towards her husband Dennis (Billy Baldwin), so she decides to follow him and his antics. She enlists the help of her friend Claire (Cheri Oteri) to come up with the ultimate way to pay him back for cheating on her with an attractive immigrant from Poland (Izabella Miko). As the plan comes closer to being executed, Peggy starts to realize that her key to happiness may have been looking in the exact opposite direction as her husband. Meanwhile, on the other side of the park, a peculiar girl and an unsociable dog cleaner desperately try to commit suicide due to lack of love and importance in their lives, even though they don’t really have the materials to finish the job. Just as odd is a pair of male nudists who often come to the park on their lunch break just to “let it all out.” Things change a bit for this duo, however, when they bring two girls from work with them to share their experience. Instead, chaos ensues.
Park is the feature length directorial debut from Voelker. He has a great ability to merge comedy and drama equally without overdoing either. It’s a hilarious, crowd-pleasing film about everything from honesty to sex to freedom that’s definitely smart without being too overbearing. The title, referring both to the location and what each character is actually doing, couldn’t have been more apt.

year of production: 2005 directed by: Dionysius Zervos writing credits: Dionysius Zervos remarks:
| ''The Shore'' Izabella Miko as Kaliope
plot summary: Conceived as the first part of a trilogy – Krzysztof Kieslowski’s Three Colours is a touchstone – Dionysius Zervos’s first feature is based on a true event. As recounted to him by a lifeguard, the story goes that a young mother and her child regularly came to the beach, until one day the child disappeared and the mother never saw her again.
Zervos uses this simple yet devastating narrative as the foundation for his fully realized, beautifully imagined debut. The Shore is a breathtaking example of how less is more: scene after scene underscore how the visual is often far more effective than the verbal. The breezy young mother of the film, Kaliope Harris (Izabelle Miko), leaves her adorable daughter Anna (Erika Shasho) with her parents for a weekend at the shore. Kaliope has decided that she has better things to do, like spending time with Ray (Costas Mandylor), her new boyfriend. The doting Mrs. Harris (Lesley Ann Warren) takes her grandchild to the beach, and on this sunny, innocuous day, she turns her eyes away from Anna for no more than a moment – and the child is gone.
The aftermath of an accident has provided the content for a number of strong recent films – Nanni Moretti’s The Son’s Room springs to mind – and The Shore captures the painful residue of a tragedy with a similar power. Mrs. Harris talks about Anna as if she might materialize at any moment while Mr. Harris (Ben Gazzara), a pillar of the community, relentlessly hectors the police and coast guard to find her. Meanwhile, Kaliope and Ray try to trace Anna’s movements that day, eventually leading them to the lifeguard who was on duty.
But The Shore’s overriding strength is in placing its narrative at the service of its characters. Zervos concentrates on creating mood, tone and atmosphere, evoking a psychological state of mind and probing into an intimate, interior landscape of absence. All the characters have been affected by the loss, and the film mines this territory extremely effectively. In its understatement and its refusal to reach for undue dramatic moments, The Shore inspires incredibly powerful emotions. [Back To Top] |
